1. How would the scientific method help Earl create an experiment to determine which food sources made people sick?
It is obvious that the purpose, research, and hypothesis is evident in this scenario in helping Earl to create an experiment that will determine which food source made some of the attendees ill at the picnic. Since it was a picnic and it had a potluck whereby every attendee at the picnic ate something, Earl can start his hypothesis to recognize if the hamburger or the potato salad is responsible for making some of the attendees ill. I decided that because it is stated that Earl realized that his potato salad he was eating has started to get warm, and his hamburger was somewhat pink in the middle and was not fully cooked. Because there are steps to be taken when doing an experiment, Earl will have to follow the step of the scientific method in helping him to solve this problem. Platt, (1964)
