Request Description

Consider a recent purchase that you or a family
member has made (examples: a household product, a DVD or CD, a grocery item, an
electronic device, etc.) Describe the item and list three main reasons you purchased that
product as opposed to another product. Then, identify the internal influences that
describe each reason you made your purchase; perception, motivation, learning,
attitudes, personality, age group, the family life cycle, or lifestyle.
Respond to a classmate who describes a purchase that you, yourself, have recently
made (it does not have to be the same product described in your original answer). Was
your purchasing decision based on the same influences as your classmates? If yes, give
additional examples of your influences. If not, describe what internal factors influenced
you to make the same purchase.

Recently I bought a little bamboo tray. The intention was to get a small box made out of natural fibre to put it in out guest cloak room. I could not find anything close to what I wanted but then I saw the little bamboo tray. In the same room we have a bamboo waste basket and hand lotion bottle, it was a perfect match. The choice was totally dependent on finding little items that are unique, decorative but not monotonous. This perhaps explains the family lifestyle, which is a few things in a room or rooms that are meaningful but not too many or very varied. The concept is to keep it simple. This identifies us as a family not an individual lifestyle, so age may not necessarily be a factor.  The people likely to notice this though are the mature ones and females who may be particular to details.

I recently bought this new computer chair. It is a brown leather chair and it is very comfortable and unique. I purchased it because I needed a new chair as I spilled food on my old one and couldn't really get the stain out (since it was suede). I also wanted something new for myself during the holidays and I felt like I deserved a gift as I worked hard during this school year. And with that, since I am sitting in front of the computer a lot, I might as well have a comfortable chair to sit on. When I was in office max trying out which one feels good, this particular chair made me comfortable but not too much that it would make me lazy. It had the right feel to it. Also, I like arm rests on it so it was important it had the right curves when putting my arms on it. The height adjustment was just as important as I don't want it to be too low or too high. The look was very professional and unique as it was brown and leather, because most have black leather ones.

The item that I recently brought was a Sunbeam steam iron and the three main reasons why I brought it was 1) the price was right for my budget 2) the other product wanted more money to do the same work 3) the other product did not offer a steam button. My internal influences was I believe that it would do what I needed, it would make ironing a quick job, I was motivating to buy because I was getting more for my money and it fit my lifestyle in that it was light weight and modern.

I recently attended a Pampered Chef party and purchased a  really neat can opener. It is a hand held opener that when you open a can you can turn the opener around and take off the lid that was just opened and not have to worry about a mess or cutting yourself on the opened lid. I choose this can opener for this reason and also because here in Texas, with all of the power outages, a non electric opener will benefit my family more. The only draw back to the opener is that my family doesn't like to use it so I am usually the only one that uses it.

I recently purchased new light fixtures for the upper level of my house. The old fixtures were very small with just one bulb in it. It was just too dim and ugly looking. I now have a nice size chrome fixture with a frosted globe. It also has 2 bulbs in it which really puts out a lot more light. It will help visually, and aesthetically, and it will just brighten up the rooms now that there actually is some light. The internal influence that motivated my decision to get new light fixtures was that it will not only shed more light in my house, but they are current and modern looking and the rooms look updated now.
