What are the features of a good access control system? Which are the most important and why?

Here are three features for a good access control system:

Single sign-on, where there is one password which allows the employees to have access to everything they need in order to perform the job.

A three factor authentication can relate unique information to a two factor authentication process.  For example: Iris scanning, finger prints, and even face recognition.

Remote Access control- Using RADIUS technology or VPN allows employees to gain access to company’s network while traveling or at home.

I believe they are all important and they all contribute to a good access control system.  Having a single sign-on means that there is only one password for that employee and there are no floating passwords for hackers to try and access.  The three factor authentication goes beyond the user name and password which can be easily obtained if needed to.  This ensures that the person trying to gain access is the correct individual.  In this case the individual trying to gain access may need to enter a password along with their fingerprint.  Remote Access control gives individuals the power to work at home or while traveling on business or vacation.
