Discuss three of the nine major forms of benefits and services in the U.S. social welfare system (p. 95). For each of the three, give an example of when you believe that benefit or service would be positive and when it would be negative. Think of examples other than those provided in Ch. 5.
The three forms of benefits and services that I will discuss are material goods/commodities, credits/vouchers, and finally government guarantees.
For the first one material goods/commodities, it is a positive thing when this is used for like if a person has lost everything within a fire. This would a negative thing if it was used when it was not needed, or abused. Meaning if a person gets commodities from their Indian Tribe once a month, they should not be able to go to the church for the same thing.
For the second credits/vouchers, this is a positive thing when it is not abused. It is used for emergencies only. Example would be getting out of hospital, or lost of job. This would a negative thing if it was abused, by people lying by saying they needed it for something but used it for something else.
For the third government guarantees, this would a positive thing if is used for the right thing as well as to be carried out. Meaning that the client goes to school and when finished works for company for 1 year and the government pays the loans for the client. However this is a negative thing if the client fulfills their bargain, but the government does not.
