Determine why change is so difficult for organizations. Propose ways that human resource (HR) specialists can assist in making change easier.

Propose two ways that HR can prepare its employees for the changes involved with moving from a domestic assignment to an overseas assignment. Respond and evaluate another learner’s comment. Ground students will do this through discussion.

Often times change is so difficult for organizations because employees feel that their comfort zone is under attack. Change can be very good and lead and organization to a new horizon of success. A great example is the hospital where I work which has been in existence since 1866, many name changes but never a new location.This past December we moved to a newly build hospital and some employees panicked quit or retired. I overheard a employee recruiter say that he would have to take his George Foreman grill home. Many employees talked about being born at the old hospital. Now the name is being changed to the husband and wive who donated forty million dollars for the new hospital.

HR prepared us with orientations and tours showing that it is a very positive move. Not only for the patients but for the employees as well. Everyone is learning at the same time because the hospital is huge. It was actually an historical event the national
