Solution Description

What sanctions or penalties could your organization face for noncompliance with health care laws or regulations? How does an organization ensure compliance?

Noncompliance to laws and regulations of health care can lead to severe civil and criminal penalties and are costing more and more each year. For example: Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) is a widespread policy that every health organization must acknowledge but, various members of staffs continue to violate this regulation and is defiant to its decree. We have all overheard employees conversing about a patient’s diagnosis, treatments, personal issues, etc. on the elevator, or water cooler. This is a defilement of the act and is it is immoral, unethical, and illegal.
