The company that is chosen for the research work is Ford Motor Company. “Ford motors” is a big name in the industry of car manufacturing. They have many models that have changed the complete industry and hence they are among the top players in the industry not in a country but in the entire world.

Incorporated in the year of 1919, the main aim for the company is to produce cars and automobiles for the general public. (Ford Motor Company, 2012) The company has also started with the financing of the vehicles. They have started financing in collaboration with many of its subsidiaries. Hence the operations of the company can be divided into following segments:

  • Automotive
  • Financial services

There are many subsidiaries through which the company operates the automotive unit: Ford South America, Ford North America, Ford Asia Pacific Africa, and Ford Europe.

Ford is one of the few companies that have been able to maintain their performance at the time of the global financial meltdown. This was possible through the effective business level and corporate level strategies that the company has followed. . For instance, in the year 2011, the company vehicles sale was approximately 5,695,000 vehicles (Ford Motor Company, 2012). This is a sign that the company has been able to adapt to the global competition.
