Solution Description

The organization I have chosen is Nike. This is an organization I’m familiar with and is involved in both, global and domestic marketing. I will be identifying the environmental factors that affect its global and domestic marketing decisions. I will analyze the following as they relate to the organizations marketing decisions: The influence of global economic interdependence and the effect of trade practices and agreements, the importance of demographics and physical infrastructure, the influence of cultural differences, the importance of social responsibility and ethics versus legal obligations, the effect of political systems, the influence of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of 1977, the influence of local, national, and international legislation and the effect of technology.

 

Nike not only markets to several countries but also outsources work. One such example is a company called Silver Star that is located in the country Pakistan. This company has been manufacturing soccer balls for Nike since 2007. Since Nike is involved to a great extent in global manufacturing, trade practices and agreements have a strong influence on their business. Nike also has to take care that producers/manufacturers follow the standards of production required by Nike to maintain the standards set by Nike.
