Firstly, as an educator I must assess the amount of knowledge our learners have. This knowledge will thus help us then decide what kind of instruction is appropriate for our diverse groups of students. So I would need to know about their native language knowledge, English-language knowledge, academic background, school experience, learning and behavior problems.
