Niella’s experiences with learning how to play tennis and speaking English reminds me a lot of my own experiences with learning. I am also a second language speaker and, as Niella, I went through frustration, disappointment and fear when I learned English. I also had problems understanding native speakers when I first started learning. For example, when a group of people were speaking, I couldn’t catch even one word of their conversation and all I thought was that they sounded like a bunch of humming bees! Moreover, I was very frustrated when people would talk to me and all I did is either give them a lost look or smile without answering to their questions
