Solution Description

Section 1

In a 75- to 150-word response, describe the purpose and design of jails.

Ans ::

Jail is a correctional institution used to detain either accused persons awaiting trial or convicted persons serving a sentence. The purpose of Jail is to punish those who cannot live by the rules of the society, separate them from society to protect society and hopefully offer some sort of deterrence against people committing crimes and those who do commit crimes from doing it again. A person is sentenced with the hope that during this time he/she will be able to look closely upon the mistakes he/she committed so that they can become contributing members of society upon their release.

Architecturally, three generations of jails are discernible since their inception
