An example of a hypothetical scenario where I would write a proposal is as follows: Most of the cars in the United States run on gasoline but ethanol is more efficient and better for the environment, so I would write a proposal to all the car companies explaining why they should start making cars that run on 100% ethanol. When writing this proposal my objective is to persuade my audience so it needs to have more advantages than disadvantages but both should be included. A standard report is different from a proposal because it is usually much more informative. A proposal is made to persuade so it should not be as drawn out as a standard report. In my proposal I would state what is being proposed, then provide an example of the problems, examples of advantages and disadvantages, and wrap it up with a conclusion.
