· What are the three fundamental tenets of a code of ethics? What ethical issues might arise with the widespread use of information systems? What preemptive measures might a business take to avoid ethical problems?
Honesty, integrity, and customer service are three fundamental tenets that will be found in almost any code of ethics. With these three things, most ethical problems that arise can be handled as these cover the basics of "ethics" in general.
In my opinion, these ethical issues will be no different than ethical issues of the past. Information systems haven't necessarily change the information we have access to, just the way we access it. People will still have the same personal ethical responsibility as far as what not to do with the information they are presented. The only difference is that now it does become a little easier to spy on what others are doing, and I think this will ultimately become the responsibility of each user to protect his or her privacy.
