PhysioEx Virtual Lab Exercise

To successfully complete this assignment, first read the instructions for PhysioEx Exercise located in your lab manual. Next, complete Exercise 1: Cell Transport Mechanisms and Permeability from PhysioEx Virtual Lab. 

You can access this exercise by logging-in through PhysioEx website (

  • PhysioEx: This resource provides exercises, videos, worksheets, review sheets, and lab quizzes that will help you further enhance your learning. Following are the steps for accessing physioEx: 
  1. Click on the link,

  2. If this is your first time to access the lab, click on the Register link under First-Time User.

  3. Create your login and password in the labeled areas.

  4. You will be asked for an access code. Enter the following code to create your account: USWPHX-ABYSS-LYRIC-HEAVY-HOBBY-MOLES

  5. Enter your name and e-mail address in the appropriate locations.

  6. To enter your school location:

    • Country: United States

    • Zip code: 33407

    • School Name: South University

  7. Input an answer to a security question.

    Note: When you are selecting your book, be sure to select the 8th edition.
Complete each section of the exercise then answer any questions that follow. Submit the completed worksheet and associated data tables.

The documents are available in electronic PDF forms. You can open them using the Acrobat Reader available for free download from the Adobe site, if you do not already have this application on your computer, using the following instructions:

  • Download the form and save it to the hard drive of your computer.
  • Open the form from the hard drive.

When you have completed the exercise, save the completed exercise to the hard drive by clicking File -->Save As.

How to work with PhysioEx without using Adobe Pro

How to capture your PhysioEx work to save on your computer and upload to the class. This technique does not require Adobe Pro.

Please follow these instructions to save and submit your work for PhysioEx:

Data Tables:

  1. When you have completed the lab experiments and data are entered, do a Print Screen (screen shot) (see below for how to do this).
  2. Copy and Paste into a Word document.
  3. Save that
  4. Submit in the Drop Box

Here are different ways to do take screen shots depending on your computer:

Click on the “Print Screen” or “PRTSC” key located on the far right corner of your keyboard, on top of the number keys.

To copy your screenshot press “CTRL + C”. [this step may not be needed]

Then, open a Microsoft Word document and select “CTRL + V. The data will show in your WORD document.

Another way is to press “Alt” while you are pushing “Print Screen” to take a screen shot. Again, to copy your screenshot press “CTRL + C”. Then, open a Microsoft Word document and select “CTRL + V. The data will show in your Word document.

Please write Questions and Answers in a word document.
Once your experiment is completed, place the word documents in the assigned Drop Box.
