Assignment 1: Discussion Assignment
The discussion assignment provides a forum for discussing relevant topics for this week based on the course competencies covered.
For this assignment, make sure you post your initial response to the Discussion Area by Saturday, January 4, 2014.
To support your work, use your course and text readings and also use outside sources. As in all assignments, cite your sources in your work and provide references for the citations in APA format.
Start reviewing and responding to the postings of your classmates as early in the week as possible. Respond to at least two of your classmates. Participate in the discussion by asking a question, providing a statement of clarification, providing a point of view with a rationale, challenging an aspect of the discussion, or indicating a relationship between two or more lines of reasoning in the discussion. Epithelial and Connective Tissues
Using the South University Online Library or the Internet, research about of epithelial and connective tissues. Based on your research and understanding, respond to the following:
Discussion Question #1:
Evaluate the types of epithelial and connective tissues found in the epidermis and dermis of the skin in terms of anatomy and function.
I believe in order for us to answer this question accurately we must first have an understanding of what an epithelial is, along with connective tissues, epidermis, and dermis. According to the (Free Medical Dictionary, 2014) these are the definitions for each of these terms:
- Epithelial is, “the cellular covering of internal and external body surfaces, including the lining of vessels and small cavities. It consists of cells joined by small amounts of cementing substances and is classified according to the number of layers and the shape of the cells.”
- Connective Tissues are, “the stromatous or nonparenchymatous tissues of the body; that which binds together and is the ground substance of the various parts and organs of the body.”
