Often the Plant Assets are divided into Land and Buildings, Fixtures and Equipment, Computer Hardware and Leasehold Improvements.   What does the component Leasehold Improvements consist of?   Do you know if your company has any Leasehold Improvements on their Balance Sheet?

Component Leasehold Improvements are any additions or upgrades on a leased property. Additions and upgrades can consist of adding an extra section for more space, upgrading internet wiring throughout the building for purposes of obtaining a faster internet, or repairing the parking lot. These additions will more than likely increase value of the property. There are many different reasons for these improvements. Reasons can be for customer experience, worker experience, or just because the building is falling apart.

The Volkswagen dealer I worked at, I believe, had an Improvements fund. They had motivation to do whatever it took to get customers to have their vehicles at our facility that they put a large flat screen television on the service drive. The screen played different Volkswagen news and product information as well as daily appointment schedules.
