The role of the warden

The Council's sheltered housing is accommodation where tenants live independently, albeit in some cases with help from support services, in their own home.

The role of the Warden is to offer tenants support in living independently, and help the smooth running of the scheme and communal facilities. They are unable to offer direct care services to tenants.

The Warden’s role will affect the correctional system in the following way:

  • offer a rapid response when the Lifeline Home Alarm is activated when they are working on site
  • maintain face to face contact with tenants to identify individual needs, and be aware of changes in medical or social circumstances
  • where possible, arrange appropriate support for tenants from voluntary and statutory
