Please remember to write full responses every time you post. It can be easy to sometimes jot a quick "Hey, I like your post" in response to someone else. I just can't give you credit for that....you really need to dig a little deeper and find something more substantive to say. This is why I request that you shoot for closer to 100 words in each post....it's not length for lengths' sake that I care about...but I have found that enforcing a word limit like this helps give everyone the extra nudge to write something a little deeper and with more substance.
Classmate # 1 Do you have a favorite subgenre of rock and roll? Give an example of one of your favorite songs and tell why the subgenre appeals to you.
I would have to say that my favorite subgenre of rock and roll is pop rock because it gives me the same feel as pop music. I guess its not necessarily as bubbly and catchy as pop music. It has more of an upbeat sound and feel that I can sing along and dance to. Pink is a pop rock artist and I would consider her more edgy and non traditional version of pop rock but thats what makes the genre so appealing. Sometimes its hard for me to distinguish between this genre and pop as well. Its a stretch to put most of the pop songs I've grown to love into that pop rock category sometimes because its so easy to call them either rock or pop songs. Michael Jackson is famous for many pop rock songs that I just love. Thriller would have to be my favorite pop rock song to date but I also like songs like Umbrella by Rihana, Purple Rain by Prince and Beat it by Michael Jackson.

I would have to say based on some of the Rock and Roll bands that I like, I would have to say the sub-genre of rock and roll that I like most would be Hard Rock or Heavy Rock. Reason is that I really like Slash Sweet Child O' Mine, Nirvana Smells Like Teen Spirit, Def Leppard Pour Some Sugar on Me, and Bon Jovi Livin' on a Prayer and You Give Love a Bad Name. I like all these bands and songs because I feel like the words are not being overpowered by the instruments. I must say though that my favorites songs of all time is from the movie Armageddon, the song by Aerosmith I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing; this song is beautifully written and it was the perfect song for the scene in this movie. The groups I named are just a few of the bands that I enjoy listening to most.
