Original vs. Traditional Thinking

Please respond to one of the following:

Question A

Rommel’s campaign in North Africa again demonstrated the power of original thinking. Did the British, with more traditional thoughts on military power, stand a chance against Rommel’s Gazala offensive? Why or why not?

Question B

The British armed forces did not begin to recover lost ground in North Africa until General Auchinleck’s replacement by General Bernard Montgomery. Is a change in leadership always necessary for victory? What else could Prime Minister Winston Churchill have done to reverse British military fortunes?
