Week 2 Discussion Posting
Write a paragraph that explains how to succeed in an online college environment. The paragraph should be an informational process analysis. (Make sure you know the difference because there are two types.) Therefore, you are telling your audience how to succeed by choosing categories, such as not procrastinating. Then, you are explaining how these categories enable you to succeed (or not succeed). Remember, you are focused on the online classroom. Think about what makes an online classroom different from a campus classroom, and then focus on how a person can succeed online.
The paragraph should consist of a well-developed paragraph, which means: you need a topic sentence, supporting sentences, and a concluding sentence (clincher). The paragraph should be unified and coherent with specific supporting details or examples for support. It should provide sentence variety (simple, compound, and complex sentences). The sentences should be clear, concise, and arranged in a logical order. Transitional words and phrases should be used to provide coherence. Choose one point of view: first, second, or third person. These elements are in the book.
When you respond to your classmates, focus on the elements I am grading for. Do they have a topic sentence? Does the topic sentence answer the prompt (see underlining above)? Are they supporting that topic sentence? Do they offers examples? Do they have a clincher, or closing statement?
Remember: your paragraph should have a topic sentence, numerous supporting sentences, examples to support your point, and a clincher.
